N37 Engineroom

The heart of any motor vessel is her Engine Room. The Great Harbour N37’s machinery space is by far the BEST of any trawler in her class and rivals those found on much bigger vessels.

The view from the walk-in doorway - you can quickly check the state of your engine room by just opening the door, flip on the light and take a look around. Everything is visible without even stepping in.

Looking along the aft bulkhead, you can see how neat engine room instalations can be. To starboard (left above) are the batteries. Hanging on the aft bulkhead near the batteries and in the center section are the optional water-maker components. The sea strainers for the 3 motors are easy to service; their individual sea cocks handy. To port (right above) is the optional 8kW generator in its sound shield.

With over 24” clearance at the front of each motor, it’s easy to get outboard of either motor for routine maintenance shores. Headroom averages 5’ - there is great clearance over the tops of the motors.

The Walk-In Entry to the engine room is to port (left above) entering througha 48” high doorway from the Guest Stateroom. Centered (under the companion steps) is the Integral Fiberglass Fuel Tank with individual pickups and filters for each motor. To starboard (right above) are major electrical components - the Inverter/Charger (standard), Battery Switches, Battery Combiner, Breakers and Fuses. Towards the center are the Potable Water and optional Air Conditioning Pumps.

The Fuel Filters on the Integral Fibreglass Tank are handy and easy to service. You can sit in the doorway to perform normal maintenance proceedures.

The optional Generator is housed in a sound shield for silent (or very close to) operation. With the door closed in the Master Stateroom, one only hears the slight “whoosh” of the Airconditioning - you can’t even tell the Generator is running.

Just inside the Engine Room Door, to port (right) is a perfect spot for a Work Bench. There is 6’ of standing headroom forward of the port motor, just inboard of the work bench location. Shown is the SS Hot Water Heater and the owner’s tool boxes.
