Sea Major leaves Newport

The official Mirage Manufacturing newsletter

Annapolis boat show
proves outstanding

Mirage had a good show at Newport with the GH 47 East Passage and the N37 Sea Major, but Annapolis knocked our socks off. East Passage was with us again, along with the N37 Esmeralda. We foresee our construction

Chesapeake Bay Magazine writer Jeff Holland takes notes in the pilot house as owner Brooke Williams puts East Passage through her paces on the bay.

calendar filling up nicely as a result. Plus, many, many couples expressed an interest in our try-before-you-buy charter opportunity on our factory N37 Semper Fi II, now under construction.
Not only did we enjoy an enthusiastic response from the buying public, but the media gave us a good ride as well. Expect Mirage to play a role in the upcoming trawler issue in Soundings magazine, East Passage is to be featured in an upcoming Power Cruising issue because of its glass helm, and Jeff Holland of Chesapeake Bay Magazine has reviewed the 47 for the December issue.

Here come the Great Harbours

Owners of eight Great Harbour trawlers have signed up for Mirage’s 2005 Downeast Drive, a rally that will travel from Newport, Rhode Island, to Boothbay Harbour, Maine, during August and September 2005. That number does not include the leader of the pack, Mirage’s factory boat, Semper Fi II, and quite possibly a new product -- a 21-foot tender/bayboat that will serve as tender to the fleet. Stay tuned for details about where and when the fleet will be visiting.

Missed
One
Due to the boat shows and other travel, we skipped the October newsletter. You can expect that we will be skipping the February issue as well because of the Miami boat show. Don’t worry, though, that gives us December and January to fill you in on which boats we’ll have at Miami. For certain, the new factory/charter  boat Semper Fi II (with flybridge) will be there.

Odyssey just keeps on trucking

Paul and Sue Graham continue their gypsy lifestyle aboard their GH37, appropriately named Odyssey, or as some bridgetenders say “O-Dissy.”

Extreme
docking

Don’t ask who this woman is or where the photo was taken, because we don’t know. We just thought we’d share the fact that a compact car makes a perfectly serviceable fender, in a pinch.

Unsinkability praised, but not our boats; we correct the record

Imagine our chagrin when our friends at Soundings magazine wrote an entire article on the benefits of unsinkable boats without mentioning Mirage’s Great Harbour series trawlers. Heck, had our trawlers been included, they would have proved the biggest example of unsinkable boats in the entire article. Anyway, the editors said they would make it up to us by publishing a letter to the editor, explaning just how Mirage makes its trawlers unsinkable. So we did. Read the letter.

We do more than just raise prices

Like any other business we raise prices when our costs go up, but we also try to take the boats to a higher level at the same time. One example is the New Found Metals opening port we’ve recently made standard on our trawlers. While New Found Metals’ product looked like the old ports from a distance, overall quality and functionality, particularly the drains and dogging mechanisms, are far superior. The photo spread above is from New Found Metals own marketing materials.
